I'm trying to rar up a 16GB file in 500MB chunks with Winrar. This is the message I get:

Does this mean the file names are too long & that those CD's listed will not be complete in the download? Or....??

    Winrar 3.93.0
    WIN7 Pro

~~Gonna be out for a couple hours & will stop by later...

it's telling you the path is the issue.
    the path appears to be

    I:

    a partition named I:

the file names are probably fine, they look a bit long winded to me, but it shouldn't be an issue.

Thing is with winrar if you are using the wizard you are directly pointing Winrar to the folder you want to rar.
I would check what content is actually in that folder and at that path.
Windows explorer should allow you to just paste in the directory to find the folder..

Wow, those file names are loooooonnnnnngggggg lol

Most likely to be the issue in my opinion.

On another point though, why not rar just the individual albums instead of having members have to download 16 Gig.

I know I wouldnt be happy downloading that amount to find them removed offline before I had finished....there`d certainly be a few expletives.

Also. raring individual albums will be easier to replace if they are taken down.

The full file path cannot exceed 255 characters in length.
    This includes the drive name.

I have not counted the number of characters, but it looks like it might be close

~~ Apologies for my late return & Thanks for the replies. H & I drives are my 2 external 2TB drives. I have never known about or used that Wizard before...I have always rar'd directly from the folder by right-click>create archive. Just for fun, I'm giving the Wizard a go now, but ultimately will take A6er's advice & rar individually. I don't know what I was thinking really...I wanted the whole Discog, it was up on FSonic & since I have Premium, I just let her ripClick here to enlarge

~~P.S. Got the same error message with the WizardClick here to enlarge

Its either the filenames being too long, remember spaces count too and you have loads on each filename, or winrar itself.

Try 7zip, a free utility that is just as good as winrar imo.
Pleased to hear you`re taking advice on individual albums
