the only thing i can think of is dont play through a bluray player/ps3. cinavia only effects these two systems, popcornhour, wdtv, standalone dvd players, etc are not effected.
not sure about converting the audio, but converting to dvd should work

    I read this, never tried it though. I don't have a PS3 or a Blu-Ray.
to remove cinavia just play on pc capture screen and re encode to avi and walla play on ps3
Any way to undo the last update?

Just to add, newer releases comming out some have a DRM protection hidden into the audio stream called Cinavia. This protection has been added into the PS3 Firmware (newest one) and does not allow streaming of these movies. Just an fyi!

I've read that the problem with re-encodes are that most converters re-encode and leave the little signal in there too. It's part of the audio track so it's not removed.

I think someone will have to learn how to isolate the signal before it can be removed.

I'm not even sure that is possible.

    But, I'm only guessing.

I posted this inanother thread earlier...

I don't consider myself a tech wiz at all, and i dunno if this'll help, but it worked for me for both Repo Men and The Losers:

I took the downloaded mkv file, opened it in MKVMERGE (v 4.1.1)...

    * selected the DTS audio track from the Tracks, Chapters and Tags section, and then

    * Chose NONE for Compression on the Extra Options tab and left everything else the same

"muxing" (a new term to me) took all of 5 minutes and both Repo Men and The Losers now play fine for me....audio would not play before doing this.

    Hope it helps.

I think the main point is leaving the DTS audio intact. When using Mkv2vob, don't transcode the DTS audio, thus leaving the original audio, which cinavia should accept as being the default Bluray audio - From what i've read cinavia works by picking up if the audio codec is different from what was released on the disc - mkv2vob remuxes the DTS audio to AC3, thereby "tipping off" the cinavia software that it isn't the original file.

Obviously, this only works if your Ps3 is hooked up to an amp etc that plays DTS surround sound - it won't help with the mediaserver as that remuxes on the fly.

Try putting the film onto a USB from mkv2vob, and make sure the ALWAYS TRANSCODE DTS option is UNTICKED, and let us know if that works.

If you don't have a DTS system, then another option (again, if you have the set up available) is to hook a laptop up to your TV via HDMI output or similiar, and play the mkv file through DivX on the laptop, and watch it on the TV as normal - Cinavia doesnt work with DivX at present.

Hope that all helps! Let me know how u get on.

I've tried this myself now, and whilst I haven't watched the whole movie,it got to the point where the audio watermark kicked in before and nothing happened, so I'm fairly sure my idea actually worked. Be interested to hear if anyone else has success following what I suggested??

Ok - sorry for the "trolling" or whatever its called, but i have now watched the whole movie like this (through my surround sound) and it bypassed the cinavia watermark just fine.

    yay me.
