None of those are debut releases.

And Breakfast in America is by 'Supertamp' not Peter Frampton.

When I was young that was debute to me. Not a huge music expert - just those items that were first in my discoveries to music

Yes, The Pretenders is certainly one of the best ever debuts in my opinion as well. Click here to enlarge

There isn't a single dud on the whole album - A masterpiece. I recall when 'Brass in Pocket' was released
in the UK in 1979 - it was everywhere on the radio. Then in 1980, when my family moved to the U.S. it seemed
the song followed us across the channel as it was breaking the band here in the U.S. in the summer of '80.

Can you believe that as big as that song was for the band in their career - it was the third single off of their
debut! Third! ('Stop Your Sobbing', and 'Kid' being the first, and second singles from their debut).

Kid is right up there with Brass in Pocket as my fav Pretenders song.

Though I must also confess my undying love to 'Space Invader'...ahhh yes, Space Invader's...my very
first obsession. God, I must have begged, borrowed, and stolen hundreds of coins to feed my adolescent
addiction...1979 / 1980 was really the dawn of the coming video game apocalypse, and the instrumental
from The Pretenders hardly sounds dated, but as more of a warning of the revolution!

Yeah, that Pretenders album has to be one of the best. I still listen to it a lot. The song that hooked me on the album and the band was "Tattooed Love Boys." I remember a night of listening to that song over and over for hours. Or maybe it was minutes, as it was one of those nights when time was a particularly flexible concept. Either way, I was hooked.

Loved that first album. Saw the band play SNL and went out the next day or so and bought that album. SNL used to have a lot of great artists on the show around that time. Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Kate Bush, Rickie Lee Jones and of course The Pretenders were on around that time. That's how I found out about a lot of great artists.
Thank you. As you all know, you just can't
believe everything you see and hear, can you? Now,
if you will excuse me, I must be on my way.
